Forged in the Garage
I am the granddaughter of an explosive blaster and road-builder, daughter to a precision machinist and sister of a life-long car aficionado. Passion for an excellent build has always run in my family.
Over the weekends, I made little sculptures from found metal in the shop while observing people troubleshooting rebuilds. Eager to engage in strategic collaboration and use my imagination; it’s what drives the designer I am today.
Nurtured by Icons
Instead of doodles in class, I drew floor plans. Seriously. Early on, I found Julia Morgan’s biography at the elementary school library and was so taken by Morgan’s dedication to holistic levels of intention - from massive site planning efforts to designing the tile patterns - that I asked my parents for gridded paper and never looked back.
Beyond dear Julia, I’ve been shaped by so many designers, artists, historians, researchers and peers whose lives and contributions encouraged my own proclivities for irreverence and deep meaning. From Fabrizio Casiraghi to Elsa Schiaparelli; Frances Merrill to the Little Mermaid’s Ariel.
